Rodney Redinger
Fire Training Specialist
Rodney began his fire service career with the Burrton Volunteer Fire Department in 1996. Following his freshman year at Hutchinson Community College Fire Science program he joined the Pike Interagency Hotshot Crew in Monument, CO as a seasonal employee. After completing his Associates Degree in 1999, Rodney went back to the Pike IHC where he stayed until 2002. During that time he fought fire in 26 states on land managed by the USDA Forest Service, BLM, USFWS as well as state and other public land.
In October, 2002, Rodney joined the Kansas Forest Service as the Fire Training Specialist. At the Kansas Forest Service he is in charge of NWCG training, course development and adopting other courses to Kansas fuel types. During the summer months, Rodney works on increasing his skill levels while working on Federal All-Risk Incidents with one of the Rocky Mountain Area Type 2 teams where he is currently an Operations Chief. He is currently the Kansas representative to the Rocky Mountain Area Training Committee and regional representative to the Incident Qualification System Working Committee. Rodney is married and resides in his home town of Burrton with his wife, three daughters and son.
