Christopher Hanson
Workforce Development Specialist
Residing in Northwest Kansas, Christopher Hanson is deeply passionate about shaping the future of the wildland fire service in the state of Kansas.
As the Workforce Development Specialist, he functions as the fire training and workforce retention specialist for the Kansas Forest Service. Christopher coordinates wildland fire training offered throughout Kansas, coordinating with state and federal partners and manages the Incident Qualification System (IQS).
His commitment in leadership and development has guided him through many roles, from handcrew supervisor, division supervisor and incident commander during national fire assignments, coordinating the development of the Kansas State Fire Suppression Module and serving as deputy operations and lead instructor for the Alaska Wildfire Academies.
Christopher holds several National Wildland Coordinating Group Qualifications including Division Supervisor, Prescribed Burn Boss Type 2, Fireline Resource Advisor, Incident Commander Type 4 and Faller 1.
He looks forward to continuing his passion for employee development as the Workforce Development Specialist for the Kansas Forest Service. Outside of work you can find Christopher spending time with his wife and children, in the kitchen whipping up a new dish or the weight room!
